The tastiest sweet treat!

If you haven’t tried a Carmelita yet you are missing out. These bars are the perfect combination of caramel and chocolate (and not to mention so easy to make!)

What you need:

2 cups of flour

1 3/4 cups brown sugar

1 cup oats

1 tsp baking powder

1/4 tsp salt

1 cup of melted butter

1 jar of caramel sauce (I use Smucker’s Salted Caramel sauce)

1 bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips

How to prepare:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a 9 x 13 pan with parchment paper and set aside.

Next, mix all dry ingredients in a bowl and then add the melted butter. Mix until a crumbly dough forms. Pour half of the mix evenly across the bottom of the lined pan and then press down so a hard layer forms as the base. Pour half of a bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips evenly across the bottom layer. Next, pour the jar of caramel evenly over the layer of chocolate chips. Pour remaining dough over the caramel and then top with the rest of the chocolate chips. Bake for 25 minutes. Once the bars are finished cooking leave them out or refrigerate until they harden. Then cut, serve, & enjoy!
